Size Segregated Carbonaceous Aerosol Down to Ultrafine Particle in Medan City, Indonesia

Abstract In this study, the distribution of PMs and their carbonaceous components, including organic (OC) elemental carbon (EC) was evaluated to determine how much profiles within ambient aerosol differ between four different sites in Medan city or (roadside (RS), school environment (SE), industrial area (IA), volcano (VA). Samples were taken by using nano sampler (ANS) from February 19 th March 12 , 2019. Carbon analyser followed IMPROVE_TOR methods used evaluate carbonous component all sites. Overall, OC is primary component, comprising more than 60% Regarding particle size, largest content recorded PM 0.5-1 across locations, suggesting that size should be focus future evaluations consequences biomass burning. The concentration soot-EC dropped with increase since it commonly influenced vehicle emissions, which typically generated ultrafine fine particles. 0.1 has greatest soot-EC. Due proximity city’s busiest thoroughfare, RS SE had a larger proportion two remaining (IA VA) (Sisingamangaraja Street).
